MORE ABOUT ALLIE

Allison's love of fitness started when she used the trim trails on various army bases and learned lots of army training techniques that soldiers used to keep fit. Whilst her husband was posted overseas to Belize (British Honduras), Allison decided to use that time to get her certification for teaching group fitness. She had always loved taking classes and decided that in her travels she would love to teach. Her teaching career began with aerobics classes for soldiers in Belize City residing in Airport Camp. She taught 3 classes a week and enjoyed the fact that she was helping to keep these soldiers fit.

In 1991 she moved to England and taught fitness classes as well as orientating people in the local gym. In 1992 she moved to Benbecula, a remote island off the West Coast of Scotland. To keep fit whilst pregnant with her first child she went power walking on the long beaches.

A move to Cyprus followed where she got her first taste of competition. She signed up for the Bay to Bay swim which consisted of swimming a mile in the Mediterranean sea. She did her first sprint triathlon and trained for her first long distance race - The Cyprus Walkdown, where she was part of a 3 woman team of army wives. Having been dropped off at the very top of the Troodos Mountains they had to orienteer themselves through rough and hilly terrain to the finish line 18 miles away.

A move back to southern England also meant a move from subbing aerobics classes for army wives to teaching fitness classes at the local gym. Not content with teaching, Allison also kept up to speed on army training techniques through classes run by physical training instructors for army wives. She was inspired by their ideas and their motivating style of training. A further move to Northern England enabled Allison to join a local women’s hiking group and complete her first 10K race in the hilly Lake District of northern England.

When she moved to the Chesapeake Bay in 2001 fitness really became a focus for Allison. She trained with an army personal trainer every day and was inspired by Ralph Lewis. It was the first time she had considered Personal Training as a career, having learned so many weightroom exercises and how to really make the most of cardio and resistance training.

A move back to the UK enabled Allison to embark on her personal training certification and finally a move back to her roots in Connecticut allowed Allison to set up her own group and personal training business, enabling others to LIVE FitFocused. She has not looked back since.

"I love the fact that I am helping my clients improve their fitness levels and change their lifestyle for the better. They feel fitter, happier and stronger but all have varying needs. I love to train all ages and love to continue learning new techniques that can help my clients".
